Student of the Week: Austin Kosier

Austin Kosier, a senior from Toledo, plans to pursue a career in the medical field but is undecided on a specialty. His favorite subjects are math and science, and he has a 4.6 grade-point average.

Austin is ranked No. 1 in his class and has been awarded the superintendent's award for the past three years for being in the top 15 in his class. He is recipient of an academic letter, the German language scholar award, and the outstanding academic achievement in foreign language award.

He has attended the YMCA summer national swimming meet and is a member of the Whitmer High School swim team, winning a medal at the 2005 high school district meet and the 2005 coach's award. He is president of the math honorary, vice president of the German honorary and German club, and National Honor Society member.

Austin is a YMCA volunteer for "Parents Night Out" and is a swim-meet volunteer.

"Austin has a true love for learning and a burning desire to succeed both in and out of the classroom," said Mary Ann Nowacki, mathematics teacher. "It has been a privilege to have had the opportunity to work with such an outstanding young man."

Austin is the son of Brian and Nancy Kosier.
