WEST LAFAYETTE, IND. - Purdue University has announced that the first man to walk on the moon will return to the school next month to dedicate a new building named for him: the Neil Armstrong Hall of Engineering.
The 126,000 square foot, $53 million building will house several departments in the school's College of Engineering. The dedication is scheduled for Oct. 27 on the West Lafayette campus.
Along with Armstrong, at least 14 other astronaut alumni are scheduled to attend the dedication.
Armstrong is originally from Wapakoneta in western Ohio and now lives in suburban Cincinnati. The commander of the Apollo 11 moon mission earned his bachelor's degree in aeronautical and astronautical engineering from Purdue in 1955.
