Springfield High School was one of 44 schools across the state to be awarded a Purple Star acknowledging military-friendly schools.
Springfield is the only northwest Ohio school to receive the special designation, for which reapplication is required every two years, from the Ohio Department of Education.
The award recognizes schools that show a major commitment to students and families connected to the U.S. military. Schools so selected receive a purple-star recognition to display in their buildings.
