Clay High School alumna Alyssa Heintschel has been named one of two recipients of the 2018 Bob James Memorial Scholarship Award by the Mid-American Conference.
Heintschel played soccer at Ball State from 2014-17, setting a Cardinals school record for wins with 35 and twice earning first-team All-MAC honors.
In the classroom, Heintschel graduated summa cum laude from Ball State University in May, 2018, with a degree in both chemistry and premedical preparation, as well as a minor in biology, with a 4.00 GPA.
She was a first-team Academic All-American in 2017 and also has earned an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. Heintschel will pursue her dream of becoming a pediatrician by attending Oakland University’s William Beaumont School of Medicine.
In its 30th year, the Bob James Memorial Scholarship Award is a $5,000 postgraduate scholarship given to one female and one male student-athlete each year by the MAC. John McCarty (men’s basketball) of Central Michigan is the male recipient.
