Bob Latta voted for a tax cut that will cost $1.5 trillion. Half of it would go to the top 1 percent, while 24.2 percent of Americans would actually see a tax increase when fully implemented.
Mr. Latta calls this a middle-class tax cut. Why can’t he commit to deficit-neutral tax reform that doesn’t grossly benefit the wealthy?

Hey, Trump did make it to Vietnam
President Trump can now actually say that he went to Vietnam (Nov. 10, “Trump says U.S. will no longer be taken advantage of on trade”).
As a Vietnam veteran, I feel it’s 50 years too late. I guess Mr. Trump didn’t need to use his deferments this time.

Convenient timing for culling of deer
Metroparks Toledo has perfect timing.
Ten days after an election in which voters renewed a levy, the Metroparks decide to cull, oops, kill, a few more deer in our parks.
These animals are the very reason my family goes to the parks.
Aren’t we all happy to see our tax money go for more ammo and sharpshooters?
Think twice — no, three times — before you vote for another levy for the Metroparks.

Maybe Franken can try presidency
Al Franken may have to leave the Senate for having engaged in sexual misconduct. Donald Trump was elected president, despite accusations of sexual misconduct from at least a dozen women.
If Mr. Franken leaves the Senate, he’ll have to get a job, a job where it doesn’t matter if you have a sexual misconduct in your past.
Maybe he should run for president.

A new strategy for anthem protest
Players who take a knee are causing a lot of controversy.
I have a suggestion. Players who want to protest racial inequality stand during the anthem, but at the end, they hold up a placard that says: “Justice for all.”
It is worth a try.
