Billed as one of the best-selling tours of the summer, the Dixie Chicks have added dates to their DCX MMXVI tour that includes a Sept. 23 stop for the country-music trio at Toledo’s Huntington Center.
According to promoter Live Nation, the popularity of the tour, which sold out in Europe, has prompted the group to extend the North America leg. It kicks off June 1 in Cincinnati, followed by a show at Cleveland’s outdoor amphitheater; Blossom Music Center June 3, and one in Detroit at the DTE Energy Music Theatre June 4. Artists Elle King, Anderson East, Vintage Trouble, and Augustana join the tour on select dates.
Tickets for the Toledo show, $129, $89, and $49, go on sale 10 a.m. Saturday. They can be purchased at www.livenation.com, www.ticketmaster.com, the Huntington Center Box Office, 500 Jefferson Ave. or by calling 419-321-5007. Members of the MMXVI Tour Club can purchase tickets in advance at 10 a.m. Tuesday at www.dcxtourclub.com.
Made up of Natalie Maines, Emily Robison and Martie Maguire, the Dixie Chicks have sold over 30 million albums, including the multiplatinum albums “Wide Open Spaces” and “Fly,” and earned 13 Grammys. Their last album, “Taking the Long Way,” came out in 2006.
