Police seek help solving Monday’s slaying

Toledo police hope to, with the public’s help, solve the city’s most recent homicide.

Dennis Johnson, 21, of Toledo was shot twice at Erie Street and Suder Avenue at 11:10 a.m. Monday. Johnson was struck in a leg and arm with a medium caliber weapon; the gunshot to his arm also struck him in his chest. He was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center and was pronounced dead about 11:45 a.m.

The suspect description provided to police was limited to a black man wearing a gray-hooded sweatshirt. The man fled southbound on Erie, police said. Witnesses on scene told police that they heard two to three gunshots.

Police ask that anyone with information call the Crime Stopper program. Callers may remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
