LIMA — Police arrested a man wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old boy.
Authorities today charged Daquan Burse, 18, with third-degree reckless homicide following the death of Dasmine D. Omosikeji, Lima Police Det. Steve Stechschulte told The Blade.
Investigators early today identified Mr. Burse, of Lima, as a person of interest in the shooting. Mr. Burse turned himself in after Detective Stechschulte spoke to several members of his family. The detective said family members were supportive, and Mr. Burse wanted to cooperate with police.
Dasmine was shot just before midnight Tuesday in the 900 block of West Wayne Street.
The teen was found with a gunshot wound near the intersection of North Collett and North streets, police said. Emergency responders transported him to St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima. He died shortly after his arrival.
Mr. Burse was taken to Allen County’s jail. The shooting remains under investigation, Det. Stechschulte said.
