A Toledo police sergeant was issued a summons Saturday during a prostitution sting at a Columbus area hotel, according to Columbus police.
Mack Collins, age unknown, responded to an online advertisement and encountered an undercover officer instead of a prostitute, Columbus Police Department spokesman Denise Alex-Bouzounis said.
Sergeant Collins was not arrested, and charges are expected to be filed later this week, the spokesman said.
The sergeant was one of 27 people who were summoned or charged, Ms. Alex-Bouzounis said.
Sergeant Collins has served at the Toledo Police Department since October, 1994, according to police.
Toledo police Sgt. Kevan Toney said TPD’s internal affairs is investigating the incident, although he did not know when it was expected to be completed.
The Blade reached Sergeant Collins on his cell phone Tuesday. He hung up on the reporter.
