The Tigers will open spring training Feb. 13, which means baseball season is coming. Here is a daily look at players with possible ties to the 2018 Mud Hens, whose home opener is set for April 12 vs. Pawtucket.
IF Kody Eaves
History: The Tigers traded Jefry Marte to the Angels for Eaves before the 2016 season began. Eaves played in 106 games for Double-A Erie that season and batted .222 with 11 homers and 51 RBIs. Last season, Eaves returned to the SeaWolves and improved at the plate, hitting .272 with 13 homers and 41 RBIs in 88 games. He also made an eight-game cameo with the Mud Hens, and batted .259 in 27 at-bats. Eaves helped his career with a strong performance in the Arizona Fall League; he finished third in the league in batting at .337, and had three homers and nine RBIs in 22 games.

Future: While Eaves does not appear on the top of the Tigers prospect lists, he is only 24 years old and has shown the ability to play second and third base. It will be interesting to see if he begins the season with the Mud Hens or Erie. Regardless, it is a good bet he will spend time in Toledo this season.
