Mike Scott broadcasts the Mike Scott Jazz Show mornings on WCWA-AM 1230.
Toledo's Mike Scott was named Internet Broadcaster of the Year from the American Smooth Jazz Awards for his show on WCWA-AM 1230.
Scott, who has broadcast the Mike Scott Jass Show for 23 years, is on the air from 6 to 10 a.m. Mondays through Fridays. He pays for the air time, picks all his own music, and sells his own advertising.
He went to Chicago last weekend to the awards banquet - where he also was a presenter - and received his honors.
He was one of five nominees and won in a popular vote.
"I was the smallest station ... nominated and I beat the guys from Philadelphia, California, Dallas, and the [United Kingdom]," Scott said Monday.
His show airs live on the Internet at mikescottjazzshow.com while it is being broadcast, and previous shows are posted online so it is available for free 24 hours a day.
Mr. Scott said the award was a great honor given the amount of work and passion he puts into the show.
"It's just awesome, totally awesome," he said.
