SANDUSKY — Despite doubling its hourly pay and offering signing bonuses, Cedar Point will be closed most Tuesdays and Wednesdays in June because of a shortage of seasonal workers, the amusement park announced Friday.
“As we’re seeing across a wide range of industries, the availability of labor continues to be a challenge,” Cedar Point said in its statement before noting that the hourly wage this year for all seasonal and part-time positions will be $20 per hour, twice its previous level, plus a $500 “seasonal sign-on bonus.”
The midweek closings at both the main Cedar Point park and Cedar Point Shores Waterpark will run through the first four weeks of June. The parks will begin daily operations the week before Independence Day weekend and maintain that schedule until mid-August, when they will reduce to Fridays and weekends only.
The last day currently scheduled for operation is Labor Day. Cedar Point encouraged guests to check cedarpoint.com “for the most up-to-date calendar.”
