Calendar: CitiFest hosts Ribs on the River

CitiFest will host the first annual Columbia Gas Ribs on the River presented by KeyBank runs from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. tomorrow and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday in Promendade Park along the downtown riverfront. The events features the best local, regional and national rib vendors and the finest musical talent. A Glass Pig Award will be presented to the best rib vendor as chosen by the judges at 7 p.m. Friday, while the People's Choice Award will be presented at 2 p.m. Sunday. The Danger Brothers will headline from 5:30-9:30 p.m. Friday. Professor Louie and Crowmatix will headline from 8 to 10 p.m. Saturday, and the Harley Packer Band headline from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

The band Guster will perform at the Toledo Zoo Amphitheatre, 2700 Broadway at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Guster's latest CD, "Ganging up o the Sun," released June 20 has gotten rave reviews.

The Junior Achievement Grand Prix will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday in the Owens Corning parking lot off Summit Street in downtown Toledo. Watch more than 40 race teams from local companies as they compete for the title. Kids activities and live entertainment are also planned.

The Toledo Concert Band and conductor Sam Szor will perform a tribute to the music of Hollywood at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in a free Music Under the Stars Concert at the Toledo Zoo Amphitheatre, 2700 Broadway. Guests include the Masterworks Chorale and professional juggler Jay Gilligan.

Elvis, featuring Robert Rosenkrantz will be staged at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Ohio Theatre, 3114 Lagrange St. Also appearing will be a live band and cameo appearances by Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison and Johnny Cash.

Mary K. Drudge, a speech therapist at Sunshine Children's Home will be remembered at a benefit concert, "Lift Up Your Voice," at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Maumee Indoor Theatre, 601 Conant St., Maumee. The concert features Ramona Collins, the Eric Dickey Trio, and performances by Drudge's sons, Jeff and Derek.

The Coming Attractions Players present Fiddler on the Roof today through Aug. 13 in Rossford High School, 701 Superior St., Rossford. Curtain times are 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays.

The annual Doll and Teddy Bear Show takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Sauder Village in Archbold. Doll artist Helen Kish is the featured guest and she has created a "Sauder Village Riley" doll especially for this show. More than 130 tables worth of dolls and other collectibles will be on display in Founders Hall. Nearly 80 antique bicycles will also be on display throughout the village, and an exhibit of antique dolls will be mounted in the museum building. The village is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday, and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays.

The 2006 Rib-Off on Broadway will serve up its 12th year of great food, fun and live entertainment from 6 to midnight tomorrow on Broadway Street in downtown Findlay.

Bull Thistle Festival in Normal Grove Park in Fayette, Ohio takes place Sunday with a parade scheduled at 11 a.m.
