Ex-Ada administrator is interim superintendent

ADA, Ohio A former Ada teacher, coach, and administrator was named Tuesday night as interim superintendent of the Ada school district after Raymond Getz was arrested for drunken driving and resigned.

Eugene Fries of Lima, Ohio, will fill in until the board hires a new superintendent, said George Secor, board president.

Mr. Fries joined the Ada district in 1973 as a teacher and later was an assistant high school principal, athletic director, and superintendent for nine years, until 1992. He retired last year from the Buckeye Career Center, New Philadelphia, Ohio, after 13 years there.

Mr. Getz, who had been superintendent since June, 2004, was arrested on drunken-driving charges Dec. 14 in Crawford County by state troopers his second such arrest since coming to Ada. He resigned the next day.
