Restaurant inspections

Recently released inspection reports of Lucas County food-service operations:

Jimmy John s, 3235 Dorr, inspected July 9. Critical violations: Unlabeled spray bottles observed. All chemical spray bottles must be properly labeled with common name of chemical. Observed unlabeled chemical spray bottles hanging on the food prep table, a home fragrance bottle under the food prep table stored next to food items. All chemicals should be stored away from food and utensils to protect from cross contamination Inspector: Jennifer Gottschalk.

McDonald s, 2142 North Cove, inspected July 10. Critical violations: Observed buildup of slime/mold on inside of ice machine. Clean and sanitize this unit. Shredded cheese used for snack wraps on sandwich line being held with no mechanical refrigeration. McDonald s policy is to hold this product on a pan which has ice in it. This method will only keep the bottom of the cheese cold. At time of inspection the pan of ice was melted. Facility is required to maintain shredded cheese at 45 degrees or less to inhibit the growth of bacteria that can cause food borne illness. The cheese was removed from service. Provide mechanical NSF or equivalent cold holding equipment for this item or ice bath properly so that all product is surrounded by ice. Observed non-working drain valves on three-compartment sink. The first and third valve do not hold water, the middle drain valve is completely missing. Repair all valves. Eleven noncritical violations. Inspector: Debbie Dacquisto.
