The Odyssey Quartet performs Brahms' String Quartet No. 2 for the opening of the Toledo Symphony Blade Chamber Music Series at 7 p.m. Sunday in the Toledo Club, 235 14th St. Also on the program will be Prokofiev's Quintet op. 39.
Steven Curtis Chapman brings his Live In This Moment tour to the Stranahan Theater, 4645 Heatherdowns Blvd., at 6 p.m. Sunday. The tour includes his sons Will Franklin (on drums) and Caleb (on guitar). Joining Chapman will be the band Sanctus Real and musician Bethany Dillon.
Also at the theater, a Tribute to Elvis takes place at 2 p.m. today. Elvis impersonator Robert Rosencrantz joins Leo Days and Donnie Sumner, along with D.J. Fontana, a member of Elvis' band, in the tribute performance. Rosencrantz was invited by Elvis' estate to perform at Elvis Week in August in Memphis.
Comedian Pauly Shore will perform his stand-up act at 8 and 10:30 p.m. tomorrow and Saturday in Connxtions Comedy Club, 5319 Heatherdowns Blvd.
The HBA of Greater Toledo Home Run Scattered-Site Parade of Homes, featuring 34 homes in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan, ranging in price from $170,000 to more than $1 million, continues through September. Hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, 1 to 8 p.m. Saturdays, and 1 to 6 p.m. Sundays.
The second annual Fantasy Fest in the Rainforest Fundraising Gala for the Diabetes Youth Services will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. tomorrow at the Nairobi Events Pavilion at the Toledo Zoo, 2700 Broadway. The event features gourmet grazing stations, a silent auction, a variety of entertainment and a cash bar.
Also at the zoo, the Annual Alzheimer's Association's Memory Walk takes place at noon Sunday. More than 1,300 area residents will walk to raise public awareness and funds for local services for people with the disease, their families, and caregivers. Registration begins at 11 a.m., followed by opening ceremonies at 11:45 a.m.
The Country Concert Tour 2007 - Monroe, sponsored by the Mission of Hope Cancer Fund, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the Monroe Moose Family Center in Monroe. The event features Bob Mullins, Richard Marks, David Schwartz, Joshua Ayers, Niki Leidner, Katilyn Yarger, Don Ferry, Moe Doyle, Robert Gillow and Mike Barth. Doors open at 7 p.m.
The Vines & Vices Make-A-Wish Wine Tasting Event runs from 6 to 10 tonight in the Franciscan Theater and Conference Center of Lourdes College, 6832 Convent Blvd., Sylvania. Highlights of the event include dancing, an auction, a marketplace featuring select local artisans and businesses, hors d'oeuvres and desserts, and information from wine connoisseurs.
A Monarch Butterfly Release is scheduled at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Butterfly House in Whitehouse. The house has raised more than 500 Monarch butterflies and will release them and track their migration to Mexico. The event is free. The event will be rescheduled in case of inclement weather.
•Roche de Boeuf Festival takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in Waterville. Highlights includes music, crafts, and food.
•Dog Days of Summer will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Lucas County Fairground, 2901 Key St., Maumee. The combination picnic and festival features contests and games, art and entertainment, and live music all centering around the family dog.
•Fostoria Railroad Festival runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in downtown Fostoria. On tap are train displays, a collector's swap meet, a car show, artwork, and merchandise.
•Hancock Heritage Days runs Saturday and Sunday at the Riverbend Recreation Area, off State Rt. 568 east of Findlay. Included will be a Civil War encampment, living history re-enactments, vintage baseball games, artisan demonstrations, period music, appraisals of antiques, and food. Hours are noon to 9:30 p.m. Saturday and noon-5 p.m. Sunday.
•Kelleys Island Wine Festival is scheduled Saturday at the Kelley's Island Wine Co. on the island. The day includes wine tastings, live music, a barbecue, and kids games.
•Apple Butter Making takes place Tuesday through Sept. 29 at Sauder Village in Archbold. Activities include apple butter making, cider pressing, and apple cooking demonstrations throughout the village. Hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. through Sept. 28 and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sept. 29.
