A Toledo man was injured early Friday in a violent crash in East Toledo, authorities said.
Injured was Abel Ramirez, 18, of Utah Street, a rear-seat passenger in a convertible vehicle driven by Savannah Lopez, 20, of Arden Place, Toledo police said. He was admitted to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition according to a hospital spokesman.
The vehicle was driving west in the 2100 block of Consaul Street near Magyar Street about 1:40 a.m. when it crossed the center line and the eastbound lane, striking two parked cars. The impact threw Mr. Ramirez onto the road where he ended up under one of the parked cars that was then pushed over him, police said.
Ms. Lopez was arrested and charged with DUI officers said. They did not say how fast the vehicle was going and whether the car occupants were wearing seat belts.
The other passengers in the Lopez vehicle — Alicia Escobedo of Plymouth Street, Marcus Boose of Thurston Street, and Laticia Lopez, whose address was unavailable — were not injured in the crash, police said.
The crash remained under investigation.
