Toledoans protest for peace

Members of Occupy Toledo and Northwest Ohio Peace Coalition join to protest for peace at the corner of Secor Road and Central Avenue. The two groups united for the event Sunday to protest calls for war against Iran as the world grows more concerned over that nation’s suspected nuclear capability.

Dan Rutt holds his message for motorists to see. In a statement, the Northwest Ohio Peace Coalition said the group has been calling for an end to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan for 11 years and said that it has been holding weekly demonstrations against those conflicts at various Toledo intersections. Occupy Toledo was formed in response to last fall’s Occupy Wall Street movement. The group began gathering in downtown Toledo’s Levis Square Oct. 10.
