Kate McComb's love for Marilyn Monroe has landed her a spot in the pages of Vanity Fair. The Toledo woman, who named Monroe as her favorite fashion icon, beat out more than 200 contestants in the Estee Lauder Camera Ready Style online competition.
Ms. McComb, 27, will appear on the "Vanity Fair Agenda" promotion page, of the June issue, which features Monroe on the cover.
Contestants uploaded photos of themselves wearing their favorite makeup styles, explained the style, and listed their favorite fashion icons.
As the winner of the competition, Ms. McComb won a photo shoot with a Vanity Fair photographer, makeup styling by a premier Estee Lauder makeup artist, a makeup kit, and two VIP tickets to a Fall 2012 New York Fashion Week show.
"It was absolutely amazing," Ms. McComb said of the experience. "It was the chance of a lifetime."
A 2002 graduate of Bowsher High School, Ms. McComb attended Bowling Green State University where she studied public relations. She works as an account coordinator for an advertising agency. Locally, she has appeared in marketing materials for Hollywood Casino Toledo, Leo Marks Jewelers, F.J. Westcott, and Reve Salon and Spa.
In 2010, she won The Blade's Runway Rivalry contest for a chance to walk in the EPIC Rocks fashion show. The June issue of Vanity Fair hits news stands Tuesday.
