Swimmers go for world record

Thousands around the world try for largest swimming lesson

Kayla Walton, 8, left, holds her nose as she prepares to drop under the water at the West Toledo YMCA on Tremainsville Road. About 130 children in the YMCA’s programs were among thousands around the world expected to participate in the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson on Thursday.

The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson event was a Guinness World Record attempt as well as an effort to prevent drowning deaths.
