Web camera to show water project progress

Web camera to show water project progress

The Toledo Waterways Initiative has set up a web camera so the public can follow its largest water-pollution control project, now under way.

Construction has begun in Joe E. Brown Park, off Manhattan Boulevard near Phillips Avenue, of the Ottawa River South Storage Facility, a 36-million-gallon underground storage tank for storm runoff and sewage with an above-ground pumping station. The $88 million facility will handle sewer overflows now discharged into the Ottawa River and hold them for later treatment at the city’s sewage plant.

The online camera may be viewed through a link at the TWI website, toledowaterwaysinitiative.com.

Joe E. Brown Park is closed for the project’s duration, but when reopened will feature a lighted baseball diamond with dugouts and metal bleachers; two tennis courts, a roller-hockey rink, a playground, paved parking and walking paths, and a large open field.
