Toledo man placed on community control after arson charge

Toledo man placed on community control after arson charge

A Toledo man who set fire to his house to collect insurance proceeds was placed on community control for four years Monday by Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Gary Cook.

Judge Cook also ordered James E. Mosher to spend 180 days on electronic monitoring, pay a yet-to-be-determined amount of restitution, and to register annually as an arson offender.

Mosher, 53, of the 5300 block of Lewis Avenue pleaded no contest Oct. 16 to aggravated arson and insurance fraud for setting a May 22 fire at his home. Judge Cook cited Mosher's physical and mental health issues in placing him on community control.
