Museum’s spring lecture series concludes with sneak peek into upcoming exhibit

The National Museum of the Great Lakes’ 2025 Spring Lecture Series will close with Flotsam in the Dark Waters: A Sneak Peek into the First Temporary Exhibit on Wednesday.

Starting at 7 p.m., individuals can attend the free program and explore the mysteries, shipwrecks, and disappearances within the Dark Waters exhibit, museum officials said.

Attendees can learn about artifact stories and research challenges, both of which contribute to the museum’s true-crime history. Christopher Gillcrist, director emeritus of the museum and head curator of the Dark Waters exhibit, will lead the program and share parts of the exhibit’s creation process.

“Dark Waters is the first temporary exhibit to debut in our brand‐new Second Wave expansion opening June 28,” Mr. Gillcrist said.

The program will be held in person at the museum, 1701 Front St., or online via Zoom. While free, registration is required at nmgl.org.
