Mark Deeter, a senior from Sylvania, would like to attend the University of Michigan, Miami of Ohio, or St. Michael's College in Burlington, Vt. He plans to major in secondary education with a minor in Spanish. His goal is to teach English overseas. He has a 3.8 grade-point average and enjoys Spanish and psychology.
He is recipient of the St. Michael's College Book award, the Man for Others award, and the Pedro Arrupe scholarship.
Mark is manager of the hockey team, vice president of the National Honor Society, and a member of the Christian service core team, and he does peer mediation and peer tutoring. He also serves as a eucharistic minister.
"Mark Deeter has taken part in a tremendous amount of direct service to those less fortunate than himself," said Phil Skeldon, director of Christian services. Over the past three years, Mark has served countless hours in the Toledo area. Mark also served the people living off the city dumps last summer for two weeks in Guatemala and El Salvador. While serving others, Mark has always shown a sensitivity and openness which is typically not found in a person of his age."
Mark is the son of Michelle Deeter.
