“The spectacular science behind your favorite cosmetics” will be the subject of a special online program Tuesday hosted by Toledo’s Imagination Station science museum.
Participants in the “Cosmetic Chemistry” will hear presentations from several local Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math professionals and be guided through creating “their very own rejuvenating face mask and shower jelly,” according to an Imagination Station statement.
Amanda Bryant-Friedrich, dean of the graduate school at Wayne State University and a museum board member, will discuss her career “as a woman in a male-dominated STEM field,” followed by a presentation about chemistry’s role in cosmetics from Gabi Baki, director of the cosmetic science and formulation design program at the University of Toledo.
The hourlong program will convene on Zoom at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. Registration costs $35 for members of the museum’s STEMinist program and $40 for others and includes a cosmetic chemistry kit for use during the event. The registration deadline is Friday at imaginationstationtoledo.org.
