Sports briefly

The University of Toledo has hired Regan Adams as an assistant volleyball coach. Adams comes to Toledo following two seasons as a volunteer assistant coach at Alabama.

A native of Birmingham, Ala., Adams was a three-time all-conference selections at West Alabama.

Four Owens Community College athletes have been selected to the Division II Academic All-American Team by the National Junior College Athletic Association.

Ashley Brough (volleyball, 3.62 grade-point average) of Eastwood, Joanna Lewandowski (women's basketball, 3.82) of Genoa, Laura Wilson (women's basketball, 3.9) of Fremont, and Jodi Young (volleyball, 3.62) of Start were honored.

The 13th-annual Regional All-Star Football Game at Perrysburg will be played at 7:30 tonight.

Ninety players from 50 northwest Ohio schools are on the rosters. The head coaches for the Black team are Bob Olwin of Fairview and Dean Ziegler of Elmwood. The head coaches for the Gold team are Bill Hrabak of Genoa and Ken Krouse of Tinora.
