Former Woodmore discus champion competes in Olympic trials

Emily Pendleton, Woodmore s former four-time state discus champion and the University of Michigan s 2008 Big Ten women s discus champion, competed in the U.S. Olympic trials this past weekend.

Pendleton s trip to Eugene, Ore., resulted in her finishing 17th overall Sunday with her best throw measuring 164 feet, 2 inches.

Aretha Thurmond, a Seattle native, finished first with a winning toss of 213-11.
