Owens to open fiber and sculpture exhibit

"Fire and Fiber," an exhibition by fiber artist Marcia Derse and glass sculptor Jack Schmidt, will be on display Oct. 13-Nov. 11 in the Walter E. Terhune Gallery of the Center for Fine and Performing Arts at Owens Community College, 30335 Oregon Rd., Perrysburg. An opening reception is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 13. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Information: 567-661-2721.

The American Gallery, 6600 Sylvania Ave., opens "Light and Flame," an exhibition of ceramic tile and vessels by Tom Marino, tomorrow with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibit runs through October. The Athena Art Society's Fall Juried Art Exhibition, featuring 62 works of art by Athena members, will be on display in Paula Brown Gallery, 912 Monroe St., through Oct. 24. An artists reception will be held from 7 to 8:30

Examples of etching, woodcut intaglio, solar plate etching, linocut, reductive silkscreen, and several other printmaking processes are on display in a group exhibition at Hudson Gallery, 5645 North Main St., Sylvania, through October. The exhibit features small and large offerings representing 22 artisans. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
