Ford recalls pickups for fuel-tank problem

WASHINGTON Ford Motor Co. is recalling 65,000 F-250 and F-350 Super Duty pickups from the 2008 model year to strengthen the fuel tank mounting to prevent a gasoline leak in a head-on crash.

In a letter posted on the Web site of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Ford said the tank can move forward in a front-impact crash of 30 miles per hour, spilling fuel that could ignite. The automaker said it is not aware of any injuries, fires, or accidents related to the defect.
