DETROIT Ford Motor Co. plans to build its new Fiesta subcompact, for sale in the United States, at a factory near Mexico City, the company said yesterday.
Ford plans to retool its Cuautitlan Assembly Plant from large-truck to small-car production in a move to more fuel-efficient vehicles. The move is a blow to the United Auto Workers union. All subcompacts sold in the United States are built overseas, a union official said.
