The Jeep Wrangler was one of seven Chrysler Group LLC vehicles to set April sales records last month, helping to push overall Chrysler Group sales up 11 percent to 156,698.
Chrysler said this morning it sold 13,445 of the Toledo-built Wrangler last month, up 10 percent from the 12,184 sold last year in April. Year-to-date, Wrangler sales are up 8 percent.
Chrylser also said April was the best month for the compact Dodge Dart since the vehicle launched last June.
Ford Motor Co. also reported a strong April, with the automaker reporting sales of 212,584 — an 18 percent increase over last year. Ford's gains were led by the Fusion, which was up 24 percent, and the Escape, which was up 52 percent. Both vehicles set April sales records
General Motors Co. and other automakers will announce their April sales figures later today.
