Omaha's late flurry sinks BG

OMAHA, Neb. - Nebraska-Omaha's David Brisson scored twice in the third period, including the game-winner with 1:26 remaining, to lead the Mavericks to a 3-2 victory over Bowling Green last night.

Brisson, a sophomore right wing, received a pass from behind the net by Andrew Wong. Brisson's shot hit Falcons goaltender Tyler Masters on the blocker before trickling across the goal line.

Omaha's Jason Jaworski opened the scoring at 9:43 of the first period.

Bowling Green (6-12-4, 3-9-4 Central Collegiate Hockey Association) countered with Greg Day's power-play goal at 18:34. It was Day's team-leading 15th goal.

BGSU's Ryan Murphy scored his 12th goal, and his eighth in the past eight games, during a 4-on-3 power play at 17:43 of the second period.

BGSU, which has been on the road for 12 of its past 16 games, returns home Friday and Saturday to play Rensselaer. Both games begin at 7:05 p.m.
