DETROIT - Bowling Green State University is expected to move up one notch in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association standings in the coming season, according to the preseason media poll.
The Falcons were picked to finish eighth in the 12-team CCHA, a slight improvement over their ninth-place finish from last season when BG went 16-19-5 overall and 8-15-5 in the league.
“We had a great run at the end of last year and we're looking to capitalize on that as we head into this new season,” said BG coach Buddy Powers, who begins his eighth season at the helm of the Falcons when they open Oct. 12 at the University of Maine Icebreakers Tournament.
Reigning CCHA regular-season and tournament champion Michigan State was the preseason favorite to win the league title. Michigan was picked second and Ohio State was selected fourth.
