BOWLING GREEN - Former Bowling Green State University standout D.J. Durkin has been added to the coaching staff at his alma mater, coach Gregg Brandon announced yesterday.
Durkin, who will coach the defensive ends, replaces Vance Joseph, who took a job as a defensive assistant with the San Francisco 49ers.
Durkin, 27, was an assistant at Notre Dame the past two seasons. Before that he was a graduate assistant at BGSU. He was a four-year starter at defensive end and two-year captain for the Falcons.
Brandon also announced that Mike Malone and Russ Kuhns have been added to the coaching staff as graduate assistants.
Malone earned four letters as a safety for BG from 2000-03.
Kuhns lettered three times as a linebacker and fullback at Wisconsin from 2000-02. He is a graduate of Bellevue High School.
