Stratton sets BG softball mark with 3 HRs
BOWLING GREEN — Freshman Erika Stratton became the first Bowling Green State University softball player to hit three home runs in a game. Her efforts gave the Falcons a 7-6 victory on Saturday in 12 innings over Mid-American Conference leader Ball State.
She did not homer in the first 38 games of the season. Her home runs in the third and sixth inning helped the Falcons come back from a 5-0 deficit.
Entering the 2011 season, there had been just two four home-run games and 49 three home-run games in NCAA Division I history. It is just the 15th multi-homer game in BGSU softball history. Teammate Paige Berger blasted two bombs at No. 24 Notre Dame on April 12.
