2nd half sparks Falcons to victory
Brown paces win with 21 points
Kalamazoo, Mich. -- The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team started hot in the second half and handed host Western Michigan its first home loss of the season in a 72-48 Mid-American Conference win in University Arena on Wednesday.
The Falcons (10-11, 4-4) made 14 of its first 15 shots to start the second half as Dee Brown had a game-high 21 points, while Jordon Crawford added 16 points and eight assists.
A'uston Calhoun added 15 points as well.
BG shot 76 percent in the second half of the game and ended up shooting 56 percent for the game.
"This was one of those nights on both ends of the court," said Bowling Green coach Louis Orr. "We have had some tough games here with some close losses. This was kind of surreal, but I give the guys credit. In the second half we made shots.
"Shooting 76 percent in a half must be the best we have had since I have been here."
Brown scored 16 points after halftime and Crawford had 13. Calhoun had 12 of his 15 points in the second half for BGSU, which outscored Western Michigan 14-0 on fastbreak points -- all after halftime -- and had 33 points off of 22 Bronco turnovers for the game.
"Turnovers are like fuel to a fire and we were able to convert them into baskets," Orr said. "You put those two together and you get one of those nights."
Shayne Whittington led Western Michigan with 12 points, and Mike Douglas scored 10.
