GENEVA, Ohio — The Bowling Green State University volleyball team claimed its first Mid-American Conference tournament title in more than 20 years by defeating Northern Illinois 20-25, 24-26, 26-24, 25-20, 15-4 on Sunday.
With the win, Bowling Green earns the league's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1991, the other year the Falcons won the MAC tourney.
Paige Penrod was named tournament MVP, and Lindsey Butterfield was voted to the all-tournament team.
The NCAA will announce the tournament field on Sunday at 4 p.m. on ESPNU.
