BOWLING GREEN – The Bowling Green State University women’s basketball team is dealing with injury issues as it hits the home stretch of the season.
The Falcons, who host East Division leader Akron at the Stroh Center Wednesday, may not have Jasmine Matthews again this season because of the stress fracture of her foot. Matthews, who was named to the Mid-American Conference’s all-freshman team last season, has missed the Falcons last 10 games.
Senior Simone Eli, a Genoa High School graduate, has not played this season because of knee problems that resulted in surgery in December but may return before season's end.
Several other players are fighting through injuries to stay on the court. The most obvious is junior Alexis Rogers, who suffered a broken nose in the Buffalo game Feb. 7 but has played in the two games since.
Junior Jill Stein recently suffered a broken finger but has not missed any games. Neither has senior Danielle Havel is working through back problems.
