Spring has sprung, and fashion shows are in bloom.
The 25th annual Scintilla fashion show and luncheon presented by the Garden Club Forum of the Toledo District was April 1 at Gladieux Meadows.
About 250 ladies visited display tables, bought raffle tickets, dined on a tasty lunch, and sipped cocktails. Then it was lights, cameras, and action as music played and models strutted the runway for the show.
From sportswear to office garb, cocktail and formal wear, there was something for everyone: flowing fabrics, solids and soft prints, metallic and ruffle accents, hats and purses, fitted sheaths, sundresses, pant suits, and more. Colors went from all white to pastels and vibrant hues to neutrals for business.
Gerald Talamantes, director of special events for Dillard's Midwest in St. Louis, did the runway show. He was assisted by Carrie Sconochia, manager of Dillard's at Fallen Timbers and Gigi Lewis, assistant manager. They used local talent as models.
The silver anniversary committee included Cecile Bennett, Darlene Carpenter, Lisa Doan, Joan Morton, Kathy Nelson, Sue Rawski, Carol Schorsch, and Susan Utterback, president. They were assisted by members from garden clubs including Anthony Wayne, Quest, All Thumbs, Perrysburg, Corey Woods, and Maumee. The clubs were represented by Maria Gardiner, Mona Macksey, EJ Hewitt, Ms. Doan, Wendy Kenyon, Jan Comer, Sally Luchini, Helen Haas, Deb Greisiger and others.
The $7,000 net supports the Garden Club Forum's community projects such as the intern program at Toledo Botanical Garden, scholarships, and civic beautification.
Among the attendees were Sherry Bannister, Barbara Bettinger, Pat Birthesil, Mary Ann Dionyssiou, Helen Haas, Lee Ann Judd, Gerri Kruszynski, Karen DeNune, Marjorie Loshbaugh, Janice Lower, Sharon Lynch, Susan Mason, Marge McHugh, Barb Polek, Joyce Quinlivan, Judy Reitzel, Joe Anne Searle, Barbara Coon, Marlene Uhler, Lucy Webster, Cookie Westmeyer, and Julia Young.
