On the Town: Win or lose, Hens are a hit

"Take Me Out to the Ball Game ..."

The familiar tune is a sure reminder of what is in store for baseball fans who come to Fifth Third Field for a Mud Hens game. Muddy and Mudonna circulate through the crowd. The souvenir shops are busy with people purchasing mementos such as caps, T-shirts, and balls as well as special items such as the Jamie Farr Bobblehead.

Each game starts with the national anthem sung by a selected talent and the first pitch is thrown by someone special, too.

Mud Hens fans come from all over

People of all ages, from babies and tiny tots to teens and seniors who have been attending for years, enjoy the fun family time. Any seat in the ball park provides a great view for baseball fans. The suites in the upper level bustle with business groups, family reunions, and more, and some have such a great time visiting that they don't see much of the game.

Yes, it's hard to beat a day or night at Fifth Third Field. The Mud Hens will be back in town on Aug. 25, 26, 28, 29, and 30, and end the home season on Sept. 2 and 3, so it's not too late to take part in the fun.
