There's always something to do in Toledo, even in January. Now is a great time to stop by locally owned restaurants, relax to cool tunes, or take a boating class.

Manhattan's Restaurant celebrated its 10th anniversary Jan. 10 in downtown Toledo with half-price drinks, bar appetizers, and pizza along with birthday cake and prizes. The Quick Trio with Rachel Richardson played in the background as people talked.

"I'm humbled and very grateful for the support of all of our family, friends, and customers. This has been hands-down, no contest, the most challenging, difficult decade of my life... but most rewarding. Here's to the next 10 years. May we continue to be blessed with family and with success!" said Zach Lahey, general manager.

The Toledo Sail and Power Squadron's Change of Watch and 75th anniversary celebration was Jan. 13 at Carranor Hunt and Polo Club. The local squadron is part of the United States Power Squadron. It provides classes in boating safety and navigation and many classes are already under way in anticipation of the upcoming boating season.

Founded and chartered in 1938, the squadron has taught public safe boating and advanced courses for 75 years and has provided vessel safety checks. As a fraternal organization, it excels in sociability and friendliness. This year's commander is Felicia Evans, who is the wife of Nelson D. Evans, mayor of Perrysburg.
