Two hundred children s book illustrators have created wooden snowflakes for a project to raise funds for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through an online auction on eBay beginning today and continuing through Dec. 11. Their snowflakes can be seen on robertssnow.com.
The project, Robert s Snow: For Cancer Cure, began when Grace Lin, a children s author and illustrator, used her talents to entertain her husband, Robert, while he underwent treatment for bone cancer. Her story of a little mouse who could not go out in the snow became their project.
Their story, Robert s Snow, was published last year by Viking, and 190 illustrators made snowflakes for auction, raising more than $100,000.
