Owens women lose final

MENTOR, Ohio — Owens Community College trimmed a 14-point halftime deficit to three, before losing to Cincinnati State CC 63-53 in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference tournament championship.

Cincinnati State won the tournament for the second straight year and the fifth time in the last seven years.

Michelle Vorst led the Express with 23 points and Laura Wilson had 11.

The Express held player-of-the-year Jessica Parson (16 ppg) to just six, but Kindra Bailey had 15 points and 20 rebounds and teammate Brandi Hollingsworth had 14 points.

The Express plays Wednesday at Owens at 6 p.m. against Livonia Schoolcraft in an NJCAA regional tournament game.
