Ohio health department sues tavern for $25,373
Mayfly Tavern was sued in Lucas County Common Pleas Court for the money it owes the state in smoking fines.
The tavern at 4532 North Summit St. was named in a complaint filed Thursday by the Ohio Department of Health. According to the lawsuit, the bar owed the state $25,373.88 in fines, costs, and interest for violating the state smoking ban.
The bar was cited by the health department "a number of times for its failure to enforce the smoking ban," the lawsuit said. The complaint further said that the health department had made "numerous attempts" to collect.
Attached to the lawsuit was a list citing fines levied that spanned several months in 2009 and 2010. The case was assigned to Judge Gary Cook.
