Courier accused of theft of drugs gets court date
MONROE — A Belleville, Mich., truck driver who is accused of stealing drugs while making deliveries to pharmacies in Michigan and Ohio was arraigned Wednesday in Monroe County District Court.
Carl Adams, 50, who is charged with one count of possession with intent to deliver narcotics, was released on his own recognizance by Judge Terrence Bronson. He was ordered to return to court on April 20 for a pretrial hearing.
A driver for City Transfer Co. Inc., a Plymouth, Mich.-based courier service, Mr. Adams was allegedly caught stealing drugs destined for the Walgreens drugstore in Dundee, Mich., while under surveillance by Dundee police. The investigation began after more than $400,000 in narcotics and other pharmaceuticals turned up missing in deliveries made to Walgreens in Lambertville, Oregon, Perrysburg, Toledo, and Sylvania.
