East Toledo boy, 13, admits to rape

A 13-year-old East Toledo boy admitted to one count of rape in Lucas County Juvenile Court Tuesday morning. The second count of rape was dismissed.

The boy is charged with performing a sex act on his 3-year-old cousin while the offender was 12.

The maximum sentence could mean the boy is incarcerated in a juvenile facility until the age of 21.

Sitting next to his grandparents, the boy dressed in a forest green shirt and pants, listened as Judge Connie Zemmelman told him he would be released to his grandparents on house arrest.

The boy’s cousin is the only victim.
