Fulton County woman arraigned in crash death
A Fulton County woman charged in the vehicular death of a Swanton man over the weekend was arraigned Tuesday in Maumee Municipal Court.
Candy Gillen, 41, of 10722 County Road 8, Pike Township appeared before Judge Gary L. Byers on a charge of aggravated vehicular homicide.
Ms. Gillen is free on a $15,000 surety bond; a pretrial conference hearing was scheduled for Jan. 25.
Authorities accuse her of causing a two-vehicle accident that killed the other driver, Jeffery Brown, 49, who was pronounced dead at the scene of a Sunday morning crash on Jeffers Road at Neapolis Waterville Road near Whitehouse.
Ohio Highway Patrol troopers said Mr. Brown’s sport utility vehicle was northbound on Jeffers when it became disabled at the stop sign and was struck in the rear by Ms. Gillen’s vehicle, which was also northbound on Jeffers.
