Ava Rottell Dustin has been promoted to chief of the Toledo branch office of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio, U.S. Attorney Steven M. Dettelbach has announced.
Ms. Dustin, 44, succeeds Assistant U.S. Attorney David Bauer, who is retiring this spring after 31 years with the Justice Department.
He started as Toledo branch chief in 1990, making him the longest-serving person in that position.
Ms. Dustin, the first woman to be Toledo branch chief, will oversee an office of nearly 20 people, including 10 lawyers. She joined the U.S. Attorney’s Office in 2001 after eight years as an assistant county prosecutor in Richland County.
She has focused on drug and violent crimes, including prosecuting a series of high-profile gang cases.
