Mugshots bar to close, give up tavern's license

The owner of a North Summit Street bar where a shooting erupted Feb. 6 has reached an agreement with city officials to close the establishment and surrender the liquor license.

Toledo Municipal Housing Court Judge C. Allen McConnell approved a consent agreement between the bar, Mugshots, and city prosecutors Monday that calls for the owner, Hellal Joseph, to padlock the doors until Feb. 7, 2013. During that time, Joseph can get inside to remove items.

However, the order signed by Joseph's attorney and the city prosecutor stipulates that he must transfer ownership of the liquor license within six months. Joseph can sell the building, but it will never be allowed to operate again as a bar, the deal states.

The city asked Judge McConnell to close the bar Feb. 7, the day after a late-night shooting left six people injured.
