Hearing on interviews reset in murder trial

BLADE STAFF

The conclusion of a hearing in Lucas County Common Pleas Court to determine whether the recorded interviews of Elhadi Robbins would be heard by a jury was canceled Wednesday and rescheduled for May 14 by Judge Myron Duhart.

Robbins, 46, of Toledo is charged with two alternate counts of murder for the 2009 death of Cindy Sumner, 20, whose body was found in a vacant North Toledo warehouse. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison.

Robbins' attorney filed a motion to suppress the statements, saying Robbins requested an attorney during one of his two interviews but was not immediately provided one. Judge Duhart said the continuation of the hearing was necessary because he was involved in a criminal trial.
